Lils tells us she’s staying until Angie comes home, knowing both of us well enough to know we couldn’t be left alone together after everything that’s happened. Neither of us has handled our pasts or anger particularly gracefully in the past week and any further memory we pull up, no matter who it belongs to, will likely only carry an even heavier emotional weight. So we work in Billy’s office for what’s left of the day, with Lils banging out code and Billy looking at spreadsheets and some piece of software with the sole purpose of complicating everything with which it comes into contact. My mind is left to wander, wondering what I can do that isn’t trying to sort through my memories or proving myself a distraction.

Our right arm is still in pain, twitching gently every once in a while. I’m not sure how I know, but I’m certain I could do something about it if I had a body. Or maybe I just need to apply enough pressure and I try for the next best thing.

*Hey,* I murmur to Billy in a lull between his tasks, *do me a favor and try to keep quiet, okay? This isn’t a sex thing.* He doesn’t get a chance to respond or ask what I’m planning to do before I imagine digging my fingertips into our arm with gentle pressure and warmth like a heated massage. His little grunt of discomfort makes the high speed typing pause for a brief moment before it continues, so I keep going. He relaxes our arm and leans back into the desk chair, trying to keep our breathing even. It takes all of my focus to do but eventually I make it down the entire length of our arm and back up to our shoulder, working out the tension I put there. His relieved moan as he works our arm makes me smile a little to myself in accomplishment.

“Okay,” Lils says from the couch, trying to sound as annoyed as possible, “you two better not be—” she cuts herself off. We turn to look and she staring at us. “Peej?” Her voice is small and heartbroken and I look down to see what’s wrong. Instead of our chest and lap, I see the hardwood floor through a strange haze. Billy’s shoulder is to my left and, for the first time, we look at each other.

“Holy shit,” we whisper at the same time in two different voices, our eyes wide in wonder of each other. We only get the briefest moment before I slam back into our body, knocking the breath out of us and leaving us gasping for air. The transition from incorporeal to corporeal along with making space again for another soul makes both of us nauseous and we make a mad dash for the tiny powder room on this floor as the feelings compound on top of each other. I can hear Lils chasing after us only a moment later but then we’re trying to empty our stomach into the toilet again.

Neither of us is sure when she starts, but Lils is gently rubbing our back when we’re aware enough again. She helps us wipe the mess away from our face and gets us down to the bedroom so we can brush our teeth and clean up. Protein powders, I decide in that moment, should only ever be tasted once if they must be tasted at all. Billy thankfully agrees.

“So I take it you’ve never done that before, have you?” she yells as we step out of the shower. The door to the bathroom was propped open at her insistence but apparently Lils had put herself on the other side of the room for our privacy. “I thought you said you’d been fucking for days straight.” We look down at ourself, making sure everything was the way it was supposed to be from this angle. So far, so normal.

“We did,” Billy responds as we edge toward the mirror, skipping the towel so we can keep looking ourself over. “I guess we kind of still are. It’s… it’s like…” He doesn’t want to put it the way we’re both thinking, that it’s like feeling porn, because it feels like it cheapens the connection between us and what’s actually happening. I passively note our eyes are both green again. There’s that at least.

“Okay, don’t take this the horny way I know you’re going to,” her voice is getting closer, “but you could show— oh. Nice ass. Nice everything, honestly.” We whip around, startled and still very wet and naked. Her gaze jumps between our eyes and a point somewhere around our sternum, but never down to our dick. I’m almost disappointed, now that I’ve grown to enjoy it so much, but she’s never felt that way about either of us as far as we can remember. “Hey, your eyes are green again and not a Billy-Peej blend! How’d you do that?”

“Blend?” Unlike Billy, I actually feel some shame and grab a towel to wrap around our body, securing it around our chest. Lils chokes back a laugh but politely doesn’t mention it hides nothing until I adjust it down to our hips. “Thanks,” it has a sarcastic bite I don’t mean but she knows that. “So explain, how is my eye color showing up in Bi—” His presence elbows at me hard. “How is it showing up in our eyes?”

She makes an indelicate noise and flops down on a corner of the bed. “No idea how, I’m not the spirit medium or whatever here. Looked that up, by the way. Super rare. Or at least it is according to a bunch of mediums’ marketing. Congrats on yet another reason for everyone to want you, Billy.”

“Wait,” Billy shakes our head in confusion, eyebrows furrowing together. “If I were a spirit medium, wouldn’t I have met a ghost before now? I’ve even been in places that are supposed to be haunted. Nothing.”

“You ever had any creepy imaginary friends as a kid? Like something from a horror movie creepy maybe?” She mimes what I can only imagine is supposed to be an undead Victorian orphan.

“Of course,” he says simply, even giving a little shrug. “Everyone has weird imaginary friends as a kid. Kinda like in *Beetlejuice*, right?” Lils just stares at us. If I could and wasn’t one of said ghosts, I’d be staring with her. “Oh. Oh, those were ghosts. Like in the movie. That explains why sometimes they never came back.”

“You truly are a himbo through and through,” I mumble under our breath, giving him the sensation of a soft peck on the cheek and making him blush.

“Could you… not do that?” Lils makes a face at us. Looking slightly to our left. “It is so weird seeing your head just kinda there all of a sudden. I mean, now that I know you’re there, it’s hard to not see you all the time sort of faintly.” She gestures at our chest and we reflexively look down to check. “But it’s so unsettling to just see your head pop out of his body.” We stare back at her in confusion and wait for an explanation. “I don’t know what any of this means,” she gives an exasperated roll of her eyes. “Didn’t Angie tell you about how she could… she can’t see you, can she?” We just shrug. “You were too busy having kinky ghost threesome sex to even try asking, weren’t you? And now you’re both thinking about kinky ghost threesome sex because you’re pitching the world’s fastest tent, wow.”

We both grab for a pillow and nearly rip it in the process, Lils laughing hysterically at our panic.“You’re the worst,” I groan, shoving down Billy’s urge to do something about this immediately. “Can we maybe order some pizza for dinner or something? Like three normal friends hanging out?”
